I will look the kid in the eye, squeeze his biceps.

You are on a path to getting a proposition for a date doing that.

Thailand and Malaysia are getting some very big investments recently. Bringing in a lot of jobs to both countries.

6.5 billion USD to Malaysia and 1 billion to Thailand. I asked someone who knows about such things 'why not Philippines? I was told the usual reasons ['red tape']:whistling: and a big one. Electric supply capability is not good.

Just my opinion, but those who hold power here have absolutely no reason to allow the country to develop - they already have more than enough wealth and probably see a developing country as a risk to their power.

Well so far this week the kids have had two days off school for rain, when it didn't rain....rounded off by that relaxing 'Teachers' Day'... when everyone has more singing and dancing fun, and the public employees get to receive their gifts from the poor.

I watched an interview with a Filipino that had a career as an investor for an overseas company.  He pointed out that 60% of the cost of manufacturing was electricity.  Since the cost of electricity here is the highest rate in Asia, it makes it hard to overcome and be competitive.  Lack of skilled workers was another thing that he pointed out as an obstacle.  The other huge obstacle was having to deal with so many officials and jump through so many hoops to get approvals, etc.
