I was thinking similar.  It says BGT on the rear and I did not recognize that.  These were super popular in S. California back then, especially the convertible.

I had a MGB. Fun car but you had to keep adding oil and or rear seals. Oil was self changing.

At my first apartment, my neighbor had the racing green TR 6 convertible with brown leather.  That's when I fell in love!  That was probably around 1980 and the TR 6 was probably mid-70s.

The MG in Subic has a strange plate number.  I wonder how a pursuing police officer can radio the number to his dispatcher for verification.

I know just being funny.  But usually on long unreadable tags, like this one, we would sometimes radio,. "Lincoln David 3958".    Lincoln = L for last and David= D for digits and whatever numbers were readable.   Or "partial number XXXX":thumbsup:
