My samsung is over 4 years old now. Pretty beat up. Glass covering cameras broke and is missing, screen glass shatterred in one corner, back case has cracks everywhere. Battery needs more frequent charging and usb c charge plug doesn't work. Finally time to trade up. Samsung will give me 14k pesos for trade in.

We have given up on Samsung because the screens are too fragile for our family.  Had to replace the screens 2 different Samsungs, one, more than once.

Going with Apple for the first time, mainly for the photo / video capabilities.

It's a good choice IMHO

I have been researching the 13, 13 Pro, and 14.  Looks like the 13 is a good fit for my wife.  Excellent point and shoot for kids photos and videos.  13pro upgrades are more for someone who is very into pro type photo / video.  14 is not much of an upgrade but a lot more money.  15 is way too much money.

Apple sure has a grip on their followers  They ask way too much money for their memory upgrades.  Memory is dirt cheap now.
