JJReyes Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Does Philippine Voter ID mean you need to obtain a separate identity card? This would imply that fees are involved because the government won't do it for free. Or is a driver's license, passport, etc. sufficient? At an American voting precent, you are still required to show an identity card which is matched with your name on the voters' registration book. The United States does not require proof of citizenship and age as prequalification to register. You do have to swear under oath as to having the right to vote and it's a federal offense to lie. The greater problem is getting more who do qualify to go and vote. It is felt that paper proof of citizenship is unnecessary for certain groups like Native Americans. They are registered as members of a tribal group. Mail-in voting became popular due to the Covid pandemic. It is also more convenient. During prior years, mail-in was used by Americans overseas and deployed military personnel. The controversy is mail-in ballots cannot be counted before election day. The precent votes are first counted. Adding the mail-in after could result in a change of winners. This pisses some candidates who then cry out, "Fraud!" Joey G Posted August 31 Posted August 31 In the USA it varies state by state... there is no national law on voter ID. The BIGGER problem... getting people to vote... almost every "loser" by 10% or less cries when they see that 20%+ didn't even vote!!! People get what deserve (for not voting) IMHO. True and in many other countries people are automatically registered to vote and issued a national ID at an early age. Some even require voting. JJReyes Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Mail in ballot is very convenient. Your vote is placed in a sealed, unmarked envelope which is sent back in a larger prepaid envelope that includes paperwork. You don't have to stand in a long line at your voting precinct.
