UN General Assembly passes resolution calling for Jerusalem Old City to be Jew-free (in one year)

I have never understood the hate and vitriol for a group of people that represent .2 of one % of the worlds population.

Unless you have went to Israel or NYC, I would guess that few people have ever met a Jew.

Would anyone like to offer an opinion that helps explain the vast hatred of Jews? I have looked at this for quite awhile and can find no tangible reason for it.

Jerusalem’s Old City, in addition to Judea and Samaria, must be Judenrein within a year, according to a Palestinian-drafted resolution, which the U.N. General Assembly passed on Wednesday.

The resolution, which passed by a 124-14 margin with 43 abstentions, is meant to give force to a July advisory opinion by the International Court of Justice, which declared Israeli presence to be illegal in any area over the 1949 armistice line.

More than 40 countries sponsored the resolution, which was the first that Palestinians filed after being granted unprecedented privileges, for a non-U.N. member, earlier this year.

The resolution calls on the Israel Defense Forces to withdraw completely from Judea and Samaria, eastern Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip within 12 months, which means evacuating all Jewish communities beyond the armistice line, including Jerusalem’s Old City.

It also bans arms sales to the IDF of any equipment that would be expected reasonably to be used in the territory over the 1949 lines and calls for a boycott of all products produced by Jews in those areas.

The resolution text lacks any mention of Israeli security concerns, historic ties to the lands or Hamas’s terror attacks in Israel on Oct. 7.

The Philippines voted for this resolution as you can see in the chart.

That resolution carries has no legal force so this is just political posturing. Might as well pass a resolution saying Intramuros must be Catholic free.

I've gone to school with, worked with and have Jewish friends. None lived in NYC or Israel.

I would guess that one or more of our members here are Jews.  They just do not have the characteristic hawk nose, but they are definitely kuripot :hystery:  Nothing wrong with Jews and I would rather see them stand up and fight for themselves rather than let themselves get placidly led into oblivion.

The whole Israel vs Palestinian fight is one of those lose lose propositions. Nobody wins as long as neither side is willing to have legitimate negotiations. My fear is that they could drag the rest of the world down with them.

BTW, here is an interesting Fact.

15.7 million

As of 2023, the world's core Jewish population (those identifying as Jews above all else) was estimated at 15.7 million, which is approximately 0.2% of the 8 billion worldwide population. Israel hosts the largest core Jewish population in the world with 7.2 million, followed by the United States with 5.7 million.

The Philippines had a part in this "great offence" as you probably noted in my post.

What might have caused the PI to vote for this resolution that was drafted by a non UN member---Palestine.

Again---more questions and few answers.
