Same with AUD, but fallen against the USD.  :89:

Yes, I'm aware that all currencies can only be compared against each other individually but still, the trend is normally the other way around in this case.

Brett, prior to leaving California a month ago, my bank gave me a good rate for AUD.  Arriving in Sydney yesterday, I find out this city is as expensive as large American cities.  Back to using credit cards.  Maybe it is because we are staying in the Central Business District, but my wife and I are looking forward to our long stay in Metro Manila.

Yeah, Australia is normally in the top 10 for most expensive countries in the world, and with Sydney being the most expensive city in Australia, but Sydney isn't as expensive as say LA or New York for example.

Twenty years ago I was offerred a six figure plus salary for a position in NYC. I was then living in a small US midwest city with a nice salary for the area. By my calculations with the increase in taxes and cost of living I would only end up with a tiny bit extra after living expenses. I turned it down.

Living in several cities around the world, i shake every time a bill arrives in the mail, i live alone but boy is it

expensive living in Sydney, but the wages are high, yes, but what if you've retired, watch your savings evaporate.

This country (Australia) was lucky, now just crazy expensive.
