jimeve Posted October 28 Posted October 28 We have another brown-out scheduled next week (12 hours) had several last week non scheduled due to inclement weather. I'v got solar power installed since last February Just a small system for outages, now I wish I had got a bigger system installed. Going for another lithium wall battery that will make it 12,000 watts, another 3.3 kw solar panels that will make it 6.6 kw. That will be more that enough, possible I could sell some back to the grid. Don't think I will ever see the ROI in my lifetime
Imaginos Posted October 28 Posted October 28 I've been thinking about replacing the lead acid batteries on my ebike with lifepo4 ones as mentioned by @Snowy79 in this thread: https://www.philippines-expats.com/topic/35662-3-or-4-wheel-ebike/page/3/ I've also been thinking of getting/building a solar generator for the rare brownouts to run fans, lights, and maybe the fridge on extended outages. So now I'm thinking I can combine the projects and use the ebike as the battery and run an inverter off it when there's an outage to run the fan, etc. Solar panels to charge the ebike, continually charging when it's at the house. No need to get duplicate battery packs. Haven't run the numbers yet as this is a late 2025 or 2026 project. The ebike is 60v 32ah. I was planning on 60v 50ah but may need to go higher to have enough in reserve. Any thoughts?

You can check your electric bill and divide the kwh by 30 to get an estimate of how much power you are using each day. Feels a bit skimpy but may give you the reserve you need? source to calculate the kwh using volt and amp hours https://www.inchcalculator.com/ah-to-kwh-calculator/ Edited October 29 by Mike J 1
