What's with the continued hate for Israel and its people?

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dispatched two planes to Amsterdam to evacuate and bring back Israeli soccer fans who went to watch a match between Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Ajax Amsterdam but were brutally attacked by alleged pro-Palestinian mob on Thursday night.

As per reports, Israeli soccer fans who travelled to the Netherlands to watch Maccabi Tel Aviv match against Ajax Amsterdam were assaulted on Thursday night at several locations in the Dutch city by an apparent anti-Israeli mob that chanted ‘Free Palestine’ and hurled insults in Arabic.

According to a report by The Times of Israel, the attack began after the Israeli soccer team’s loss to local club Ajax.

10 Israelis injured, no contact with two, attackers steal passports

Israeli foreign minister Gideon Sa’ar said at least 10 Israelis were injured in the violence.

The Israeli foreign ministry informed that contact with two other Israelis have been lost.

Meanwhile, Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, in a post on X, said: “Fans who went to see a football game, encountered anti-Semitism and were attacked with unimaginable cruelty just because of their Jewishness and Israeliness.”

As per reports in Hebrew media outlets, passports of some of the targeted Israelis were also stolen by the attackers.

Israel, meanwhile, has advised its citizens in the Netherlands not to step out and stay in their hotels.

Sa’ar also asked his Dutch counterpart Kasper Veldkamp to help Israelis reach safely to the airport from their hotels.

My first reaction, without seeing anything but the headline is instead of rescue planes he should send a few F35 multirole fighters. :whistling:

The hatred on both sides goes back thousands of years.  I suspect to truly understand the depths of hatred you would have to be born and raised in the middle East.  It is passed on generation by generation and inflamed periodically by war.  At best there may be a lull, maybe a treaty or armistice in the fighting.   But the hatred will remain as these children grow into adults and pass it on to their children in turn.  It will take generations of a real peace to ease the hatred and tensions between Israel and it's neighbors.  Regardless of how the current conflict ends, there will be no winners in this fight.  My opinions of course.   I suppose some would say I have a pessimistic outlook for the conflicts between Israel and it's neighbors, but I prefer to think I am being pragmatic.

We visited Israel before October of last year when the latest conflict flared up.  You could feel the tension in the air.  Jerusalem was like an armed city.  Soldiers walked around in full combat gear with rifles and ammunition.  Even civilians had guns tucked under their shirt.

Interesting.  When approached by a soldier to check our identity, our Israeli guide explained I am from the United States, but formerly from the Philippines.  Filipinos have a more positive image in Israel than Americans.  The reason is the Philippines accepted Jews fleeing from Nazi Germany.  Both the United States and Great Britain denied them entry visas before the start of WW2.  This tidbit is taught in school.  Another possible reason is 90% of the caregivers recruited to care for their elderly are from the Philippines.  The majority work as in-resident caregivers with a starting salary of around 1,000 Shekels or about 1,000 USD.

The starting salary of 1000 Shekels per day @ 0,27 to the US dollar would be the equivalent of $270.00 per day.  Minimum daily wage in Manila I believe is 645 peso per day.  The Israeli starting wage number feels quite large.  I suspect the salary is per week instead of per day which sounds reasonable?  Below is wage info per Google.  And I do not believe a housekeeper in Manila could ever make $270 per week.  If that were possible @scott h might be working as a housekeeper. :whistling:

<snip>

How much is the salary of Filipino Housekeeper in Israel?

1. The Worker's monthly gross salary shall not be less than 5300 NIS per month which is the current monthly Minimum Wage in Israel for full time employment.
