It's Hard to Rent a Condo

For more than one week, I have been trying to rent a Bonifacio Global City condo on a month-to-month basis.  There are some advertised on the Internet for short term (daily, weekly or monthly), but the agents or owners don't answer my emails.  One real estate agent we met at the lobby of a condominium building wanted two months deposit, two months advance rent and a minimum six-month contract.  We can terminate early since our departure is early March, but there is a one-month penalty.

Unfortunately, nearby hotels are filled at the moment as wealthy Filipinos from the provinces come to town for Christmas shopping.  The current place we are staying is taking advantage by charging PHP 1,500 per day for parking.

Any suggestions?  Perhaps we could move out of town until the Christmas season insanity is over.  Of course, joining the family Christmas parties is the reason we come this time of the year.

You might be able patch together a longer stay using AirBnB.

We checked the leasing office for the condo where we wanted to live. But this was for a year lease and they showed us six different units. Everything done very professional.

We also have had problems with real estate agents responding for properties we want to look at because we are considering buying.

Good luck.

Depends of course how much you want to spend and how far away.  I would stay away from Tagaytay, maybe look towards Clark Freeport Zone.  Less than two hours to Manila, and a lot available via Airbnb

Ive stayed in a condo in Salcedo Makati  for 3 months whilst my own condo was in final pre opening phases.  Plenty of condos also available by Former President tower and that part of Makati. Owners are spoilt hence the nonsense demands of so much money up front. Its still a sellers and not a buyers market and as an owner, long it may stay that way !

I personally know a realtor in the clark/angeles area, I could ask her if you'd like.  I did do a search on airbnb (for a two month stretch), and there are a lot available.

Why so?

Is it for the same reason as the start of this thread or for different reasons?

I ask because I liked Tagaytay.

Only because Tagaytay is a madhouse during Christmas season.   Traffic becomes so bad it is like a parking lot.  All other times of the year, its only bad on the weekends.

Hhmm...,

Well.... the unofficial/official PI Christmas season of the PI starts around the beginning of Septembre....ending quickly when their tired right after New Years.

And from our experience most tourist areas become thicker right around that mid-December to the weekend after New Yeras.

I believe Christmas season officially ends on Three Kings Day which will be Monday, January 6, 2025.  The Catholic tradition is the Three Kings or Magis will pass your street on their way to visit baby Jesus.  You left your shoes on a window so the Three Kings can give you candies as they passed by.  Loved eating those smelly candy treats.  (That was our old shoes joke.)  Maybe it is no longer practiced since someone might steal the shoes.
