OnMyWay Posted Tuesday at 08:06 AM Posted Tuesday at 08:06 AM I drove down a street near my old house just to see what's going on there. And now a long story about nuthin. We have some wealthy "friends" who have a house there. Their son was my daughter's classmate but now I heard that he goes to the very expensive Brent School. We went to a couple of parties at the house there. Beautiful tropical house with infinity pool overlooking the jungle. Wrap around terrace on the second level. I only met the French father once as he used to be out of the country most of the time. He has an approximately 10 m power boat that he brought to his son's birthday beach party. They also have a large catamaran sailboat. About 1.5 years ago, they pulled their son out of school to join them on a 6 month sail around the South Pacific. At about that time I noticed renovations starting on the already beautiful house. The house used to be white in the front, Western style with wrap around terrace on the second level. See pictures. This is what it looks like now. Industrial concrete look with two ship hatch doors in the front! The wrap around terrace on the second level is covered or gone. Whatever they are doing I'm sure it will be unique and beautiful, but a bit strange!

I'm sure some of our Navy guys here will love them!

BrettGC Posted Tuesday at 10:36 AM Posted Tuesday at 10:36 AM But seriously, if you see large amounts of dirt being excavated and some odd shaped chimneys, it's a pretty good chance it's being "prepped".

Those hatches are for a surface ship rather than the shorter pressure hatches in a sub. Looks more like a target to me. 2 1

JJReyes Posted Tuesday at 10:56 AM Posted Tuesday at 10:56 AM Back in the 1950s, there was serious concerns over the possibility of nuclear war. Schools had regular drills that included hiding under the desk????? Basements of buildings were designated as nuclear shelters. An enterprising construction company offered to build underground bunkers in your background. Lots of customers because the offer included a 20-year mortgage. Everyone at the time expected nuclear war to break out within 5 years. In my current state of residency, South Dakota, reinforced silos used to launch Intercontinental nuclear warheads were sold by the US government. They have been reconverted for use by wealthy preppers. Another project is underground ammunition bunkers repurposed as nuclear shelters. Prices range from $500,000 to $2 million. The more expensive ones may include a swimming pool.

These houses are leased, not owned, and they are strict with the building permits. Of course, he is rich, and it is the Philippines, so anything is possible. I don't know where they are living now but if they move back in, maybe we can get invited over again! I only met the guy once for a handshake at a party. That was a few years ago and I think he looked 50ish. He might just be a nautical nut and / or ex Navy type? You can probably find those doors around at some of the scrapyards.
OnMyWay Posted Tuesday at 02:18 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 02:18 PM (edited) I found some pics from Xmas 2020. They had the kids over for a Christmas swimming party. This is the back of the house and the front had a similar vibe. I wonder if the back has the industrial look now. I loved the tropical feel of the house and I don't know why someone would mess with it. I have another theory about the house now but I am too tired to share. You will have to wait for more chismis.
