Forum Support Mike J Posted Tuesday at 10:32 PM Forum Support Posted Tuesday at 10:32 PM Hard to imagine anyone would want "knee knockers" for doors. I am having a difficult time trying imagine how this could ever turn out to look good, but maybe I lack imagination. The original house looked attractive and practical with a nice overhang to provide shade and keep the house cool. This is the kind of project where at the end I like to say; "Wow, I never would have considered something like that!" I am indeed, looking forward to the ongoing progress and finished look.

I suspect there is another main door over to the right side and these might be just decorative.
OnMyWay Posted Tuesday at 11:01 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 11:01 PM Ok, another theory. I see that unique Toyota truck all the time, for several years. Running around town and also ferrying construction workers back and forth from our gates. I'm fairly certain that truck was parked at Greg Homan's house which is just 4-5 houses away, and they had renovations there a few years ago. Greg is the son of Brian Homan, who owns Vascos. Some of you know Vascos and Brian's story. He is a well known diver and collector of relics, and has a museum at Vascos. So my theory is that the French guy sold the house to Brian and he is renovating it to a nautical theme with all the stuff he has collected. And he would be a few houses away from his son and grandkids. I will find out. The neighbors on the left side are Koreans I know as they used to live next door to me, and their son is on my daughter's Taekwondo team. On the other side, the old guy who bought my old house is still renting there, so he probably knows what's going on. I'm due for a visit with him anyway.
hk blues Posted Wednesday at 03:12 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:12 AM I'll reserve judgement on the new construction. I will say I do much prefer the look of the existing house compared to the ultra-modern box-on-box style so many here seem to prefer. I know the style is popular in LA as well but it makes them all look so generic. IMO, of course.

The builders love the glass though as it's cheaper than a wall.
