Social Security Fairness Act…Passed The House!

This should be of interest to some of us expats from the US who will receive reduced monthly Social Security payments due to receiving another public pension from a State or local government. The bill passed in the House and is now headed to the Senate.  Congress adjourns on December 20, so it needs to be passed by then and signed by the POTUS I think within 10 days.

You might want to reword that.  I read it as they will receive reduced benefits due to the bill.  It should be "if they are receiving reduced benefits now, the bill will fix that and their benefit will increase."

Interesting you caught that because I did not.  I knew of the bill, knew what he "wanted" to write, so that is what I read.  I am somewhat dyslexic and have a tendency to miss written words and/or read words that are not there.  Forum members may have noticed that my posts sometimes seem odd, misused/missing words, etc.  I am not really dumb, just a bit dyslexic.  :whistling:

As I have gotten older, I notice that I do this quite often.

I often read and reread before I post anything and then go back later and often see a glaring error that I made.

Yep.  Especially embarrassing for me as a mod. 🙄

I see what you mean.  Unfortunately, I can’t edit the initial post anymore.  Looks like I butchered my initial post when I edited it. I wanted to say, those who will receive/receiving reduced benefits due to WEP penalty, this bill will eliminate that and will receive full benefits if passed.
