Easygoing 51 year old Scotsman living in Greenfields with my gf. It would be good to arrange a few drinks with some other guys on a regular basis. Interests include Football ️, Films, Gaming, crime fiction. Let me know if you are up for a few drinks or if there are perhaps groups around makati/ BGC let me know. Ta Steve

Welcome Steve.

Unfortunately, I'm far from you but hope you can find some drinking buddies.

My brother-in-law and sister built a home in Greenfields for their retirement.  That's a beautiful area developed by the Ayala group.  The entire family, or clan, has been invited for her birthday on December 1.  The venue is the country club which was built purposely to host wedding receptions.

Is Scotsman1973 invited?

No.  Family only.

Interesting stories about country clubs.

We were invited to Alabang Country Club during a weekend.  In addition to a golf course, they have a large bowling alley, indoor basketball and tennis courts, and a softball field.  There were two restaurants and a member only lounge.  What was shocking for me was we were the only table at the restaurant.  The place was virtually empty on a Saturday.  The host explained that the membership are also members in other country clubs outside of Metro Manila.  Families prefer to go out of town for the weekend, staying at condos around the golf course.

My former high school classmates meet once a week for lunch at the Manila Polo Club.  If you are from overseas just visiting, they pick up your tab.  I once asked, "how many of you play polo?"  None.  "How many of you have watched a polo match?"  Two.

My father at one time was a member of the Wack-Wack Country Club which is a proprietary membership.  My sister told me she still gets asked what happened to the membership because they want to buy it.  It was sold over 40 years ago.  I believe the club charter limits the total number of members.

We went to Baguio earlier this year and stayed at the Baguio Country Club as guests of a member.  My wife had fun looking for instructional signs that included a message on how bodyguards should behave.  She thought they were hilarious.
