Jollygoodfellow Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Makes me laughI was looking at some of the hotel reviews at the Agoda site and came across this one about the Midtown hotel, now I understand if beggars are annoying but the last part of the review is a laugh, why go anywhere if you stay in your hotel or mall all the time. The room had no tooth brush or paste,no razor! And don't get into a taxi unless you see a Taxi sign on top and a meter........You cant walk outside on the street to Watson s drugs store with out at least 8 people begging for bread or money so when I wasn't in a shopping mall....I just stayed inside the hotel...:SugarwareZ-037:

Gold Heart Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 HelloI stay at the Midtown and don't find the beggars to be that much of a problem. Certainly not enough to stay in the hotel or in the Malls day and night. Some people expect to much when it comes to hotels, tooth brush and paste missing, wow and no razor, gee how sad I agree the review is a laugh and who ever wrote it needs to get out moor. That stretch in front of the hotel is really beggars row. People approach you for handouts, selling maps, viagra, watches, et. al. I can imagine how an inexperienced traveler might find this difficult. However, I do not find the beggars here to be aggressive. You can simply say "no" or ignore and they go away. If you frequent the area as in staying in the hotel, they quickly learn that approaching you is fruitless and stop doing it. I have travelled all over the world and stayed in some of the top rated hotels in the world. It is very very rare to find razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Shampoo and soap or the only consistent standard. Some hotels will provide these tihngs if you indicate you forgot them - to expect them seems odd. Not sure where they are used to staying?
