I am certainly no expert on this topic but I know of a former bar owner who is a diabetic and he has been living in Cebu for years, not sure of what area you are looking at?

I live in Manila and a friend of mine is diabetic. She has no problems getting the test strips, syringes, and insulin she needs. They are widely available in just about every pharmacy. Access in the provinces might be tougher. Assuming there is a pharmacy near where you live, they would likely special order something if they don't carry it. Depending on your situation, you may qualify for PhilHealth, but I don't know what benefits they offer to diabetics. I don't really know much about the health insurance available here in the Philippines because I don't have any.

HiWhat Type of Diabetic are you 1 or 2. As it happens i am Type 1 diabetic and as for healthcare i just see a normal GP doctor, it helps if you see the same one so they have some history on you. I do not know if there are any specialist here, but if they are you will probably pay more to see them. I do not know how long you have been diabetic for, but me personally i usually look after myself and hardly need to see the doctor about it. Test strips are available here, they range in price from 1000 to 2000 pesos per pot depending what make your machine is. I have changed my insulin since being here from Antrapid and Levemir to Humanlog 25, which combines the two together, so your saving money. Antrapid is 980 pesos per cartridge and Levemir is 820 peos per cartridge. Humanlog 25 is 752pesos a cartridge. Needles are 12 pesos each. I dont really know the prices for oral medication which you take when your Type 2 diabetic. It is reasonable easy to get your diabetic supplies here also. I use Rose pharmacy personally. I hope this helps. Matt.
