PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina said PNP Director General Jesus Verzosa has ordered the strict implementation of the ban, "in connection with the May 10 elections, effective May 9 (Sunday) to May 10, 2010 (Monday)." Provisions of the liquor ban are stated in Comelec Resolution 8730 or the Rules and Regulations governing the liquor ban. "The only exemption from the ban per Sec 3 of said Resolution are hotels & other establishments duly certified by the Department of Tourism as tourist-oriented & habitually in business of catering to foreign tourists provided they secure prior written authority from Comelec," Espina said. He added that violators of the liquor ban could face imprisonment for a maximum of six years subject to probation, disqualification to hold public office and deprivation of the right to suffrage.

Does that mean no one can drink alcohol in their own home or is it that no one can sell it in that period excepting for the exempt establishments.Would be hard to police.:7500:
