Makes me wonder why anyone would want to invest their money into the Philippines, somethings in my opinion are going backward,if this story is accurate then the Philippines are shooting them selves in the foot. th_fluch.gif BORACAY, Philippines (AFP)

Politicans in this country are always shooting themselves in the foot . Maybe the national shoe should be a steel - toed brogan instead of a shower - shoe .

It's the usual money for nothing attitude. Let the westerners set it up and then take it way - what's new?Sorry to say that but when westerners are seen to make money the old supremecist pinay attitude surfaces. If you develop something without title and legality you have to be prepared to move on. Boracay is too successful to be ignored and foreign "owners" will be turned into managers or just kicked out. We have no rights here so never imagine anything is other than temporary unless you have the contacts and money.

Apparently even a 30 year lease isn't enough. I had always planned to go there after reading this no more interest. I'll look elsewhere and I hope many others will do the same. Be really funny if these jerks spent millions to build new stuff and tear down the tourist stuff and everyone stopped going there.

The same thing is happening over on Panglao Island, Bohol. The new airport has the sharks in a feeding frenzy. Not open warfare but behind the scenes political jostling for control. One mayor was railroaded and they tried to pin a homicide on him to gain control of his beach.
