Once again Cebu is trying to take the lead in the country to make it one of the most viable destinations in the Philippines. CEBU, Philippines - A group of Cebuanos have come together to make Cebu a prime destination for English learning. This vision, once achieved, will develop another tourism attraction in Cebu. The Cebu Hub For English Learning (CHELE), an association formed after a workshop that was held to brainstorm ideas on how to put Cebu as an English learning hub on the world map, is a brainchild of the Cebu Leads Foundation (CLF), a multi-sectoral coalition organized by a group of businessmen, corporate executives and civic leaders who are committed to help Cebu move forward by promoting livability, prosperity and good governance for all Cebuanos.The full story HERE

There was something similar to this a couple of years ago. Nothing has appeared to come from that conference which was held at the Diplomat Hotel over 4 days. My interest is that I am a qualified TESOL teacher and would love to teach in Cebu. Unfortunately , jobs are hard to come by unless you want to teach at a Korean owned school for peanuts..and, this is hilarious, I was told my English accent wouldn't fit as students want to learn with an American accent....those same students being taught by local Filipinos!!! Would appreciate if anyone could keep me updated as to when and where this upcoming conference is organised for. Thanks
