UZI Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Last nights brought torrential rain to Cebu with the Mananga dam in Talisay overflowing. Naga had knee high water levels in most low lying houses. The bedroom in Dee's sisters, where we are staying is a step of 12" from the sala & the water stopped just short. We are renovating a house here & we were worried that all our worldly possessions, still in boxes, would be ruined. Just back & glad to report that the old 'Location, Location, Location' rule still works. The house floor is 3 steps up from ground level & was as dry as a bone. Unfortunately the same could not be said of all our neighbors. Big clean up op underway but everyone still smiling as usual.Hope the rest of you chose well too - yeah we know Lee 'Condo' Uzi

Condos are surely not for everyone and it is up to the individuals tastes. We just happen to like looking down on the rest of the world. Joke lang. Many residents had a lot of problems with their septic tanks due to poor installation.Pick your location with care & check the area carefully for termites & signs of water damage.Buyer beware always.Uzi. tropicalwaste Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Not had too much problems in the next town ;-) although talking to Aprils cousin he was saying to go down to the river at 6am to watch as there is often animals and other things washed down from the mountains as the river is near breach. Also that all the dirty nappies, plastics and hundreds of other crap will be washed away and although the water looks like a chocolate river from Willie Wonka's chocolate factory it will soon run clear and the squatters will be up at the river with the fishing rods as its then full of fish. Wonder if they are washed out of fish farms or just the reservoir anyway will grab some photos when it happens. There are houses that often get washed away down by Pakigne so might take a ride along there tomorrow to see how deep the water is..
