Scandal of the flesh --It was the year 1983. While I was courting Judy via letters, AT&T calls and flowers from San Diego, CA to Manila, I made a promise to return for her upcoming 19th birthday. A couple weeks prior to my departure, I was informed by her supervisor at Playboy International Club in Manila, that Judy suddenly resigned and was now located in Japan. Fortunately, Judy called me from Japan to set up a rendezvous at a Buddhist temple in Fukuoka City, south of Tokyo. It was a miracle finding her, to say the least.

 

Sobbing like a wounded angel, Judy explained her predicament. The scandal involves her very own mother and a Japanese businessman. Judy’s younger sister Anna (16 years old) was enticed to accompany this Japanese along with other Filipinas for a 6 months tour as a singing group to Japan. The contract was signed by her mother, money exchanged hands but Judy caught wind of it and defiantly volunteered to go instead of her younger and naive sister.

 

After several days of me pleading to the owner of a Japanese stand bar, the meeting was set up to formally request the release of Judy. We were escorted up this private elevator to a very exclusive night club where I finally met that Japanese businessman. Come to find out, he was Number 2 of the local underground world of Fukuoka City. He simply said $3000 and the contract will be resolved. I liquidated the deal by using my American Express and quickly made flight reservations. Thank god, she did not surrender her passport, unlike the others Filipina girls. The evening prior to our departure from Narita International Airport, we kept ourselves on the move, even hiding in the only Catholic church in Fukuoka. She was afraid that she would be taken away, even though the contract was paid off. I later found out that she was slated for number 1 of the local Yakuza gang.

 

Sweating like a pig, we continued to look over our shoulders as we boarded the plane for Manila. Two years later we were married in San Diego. Unfortunately, Judy's sister Anna was eventually recruited and began working and living in Japan as a Japayuki. The father of Anna’s daughter is Yakuza.

 

End of story but many more scandals abound in today’s flesh market.

Just curious ekimswish, what kind of hog feed are you using? Natural ingredients or hormones and artificial chemicals? Inquiring minds need to know..

I asked my wife about it, and she seems to believe we're using natural ingredients because a lot of the practices of this company are focused on natural ways to raise pigs. But that doesn't answer the question, so I just went to their website (I haven't told you the name of the company because I wasn't sure if it's allowed on the forum?) and found this describing their feeds: "quality feed rations produced using select quality ingredients and raw materials to guarantee the optimum performance of your pigs. These feeds were formulated to meet the nutritional and health requirements in each stage of your pig's growth."So I hope you understand that better than I do. I know nothing about raising pigs, but my wife has been a workhorse learning as much as she can about it while I'm at work. She's impressed me a lot, but we both still have a ways to go. So any advice any of you have about it feel free to throw it my way. Thanks a lot.

Yes it would be allowed to mention anything which is not related to a business of our own which a member would benefit from, so since you are not a new member and since you do not own the feed company then that would be allowed, but even advertising is allowed with permission of the owner of the forum or a paid membership.  My guess is you are talking about San Miguel Foods Inc. (SMFI) B-Meg of pig feed or B-Meg hog feeds.

Yes, indeed. B-Meg. Heard anything good or bad about them? We're content with them so far, but would like to experiment with other feeds in the future with different pigs and compare the results. My wife (Acel) spends all day on hog raiser forums asking questions and trying to learn about different ways of raising pigs. B-Meg, or the association which distributes for them, provides us with a free vet as well.

That one is supposed to be the best one available in the Philippines from what I have heard so I guess you are on the correct track.

Ekimswish,Once the contract was paid in full, they became very friendly to me and Judy. They eventreated us to a very nice Kobe steak dinner and warm sake, but Judy kept insisting thatwe should leave the country as soon as possible.Respectfully -- Jake

Scandal number two:(disclaimer: I knew we'd get cheated several different ways; was just curious to see it happen, though)So about our farm, we were supposed to sell our first 14 pigs in June, which then became July. The meatshop needed another month to open, but they promised to buy our pigs for 130pesos/kilo if we waited, rather than at 110pesos/kilo. We thought it made good sense to wait since we'd make a bit more money, assuming the pigs grew well, so decided to wait. We also wanted to establish a friendly business relationship with that meatshop, rather than leaving them high and dry with too few pigs a month down the road. What goes around comes around, right? So, after the first scandal where someone cheated us out of our July dates, we finally got our pigs picked up by the meatshop. They asked if they could pay us after selling the pigs, since they were still new and didn't have a lot of money yet. We said okay, still believing we were getting 130/kilo. I asked my wife a bunch of times, assuming she'd check. I guess she just asked our farmhand (we're out of the country), who replied yes to her, without checking, and she replied yes to me. Now, in September, they finally paid us, but only at 110 pesos per kilo! OMG!!! I was furious yesterday. It's not as bad as if they'd ripped us off clean and just not paid anything, but it's still bad. We spent 6 extra weeks feeding those pigs, so by selling them at 110, there's almost no profit to be had. And since then, we've gone and bought 50 more pigs which we can barely support as is. Now, roughly 20k php short of what we expected, we'd be officially in the red for a month. I wrote a complaint to our contact in that meatshop as well as called him, and he had a variety of reasons why they couldn't pay us 130, most of which I couldn't understand over the phone. I asked him to write me as well. I want to find out if this was a problem where they lied to us, as I feel now, or where our farmhand miscommunicated or misunderstood what she was told. So now I had the idea to sell off about 10 pigs early, around 40kilos, in order to lighten our load over the next couple months. My wife disagrees, however, saying we could just mix the feeds with bananas and veggies grown locally, which will save money and still benefit the pigs nutritionally. I'm not sure, but I better find out quick. I would love it if mixing the feeds could save money without compromising the quality of the meat. If not, the mother-in-law (a retired teacher with a pension) might be able to apply for a loan to buy some of the pigs off us, so at least the profit stays in our family. I'm pissed about what happened, but I'm thrilled it wasn't worse. Not yet, anyways. Lesson is: don't do favors. Next time someone can't keep their date with our pigs, we'll open them up to whoever wants them. Back in June and July we turned down several walk in customers who are apparently wealthy people in town. Ah well. Still standing.
