stef Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 PNP says of the 8 fatalities in the hostage taking, 3 were Canadians and 5 Hong Kong residents By Cecille Suerte Felipe (philstar.com) Updated August 25, 2010 04:45 PM Comments (2) MANILA, Philippines -- Police announced today that three of the eight slain victims held hostage by dismissed Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza, were Canadians, whose identities were established after they were taken to Camp Crame in Quezon City for autopsy.Senior Superintendent Agrimero Cruz, spokesman of the Philippine National Police (PNP), refused to reveal the names of the fatalities pending formal coordination with their respective families.Of the three Canadians, Cruz said two were females and a male. “One of the women had two gunshot wounds in the chest and armpit, the second woman was shot to the head and the male was shot in the neck and body.”The five other victims were all Hong Kong residents. One of them had a gunshot wound in the back, the fifth victim had a gunshot wound on the shoulder, the sixth victim had a gunshot wound in the body and the two others were shot to the head.Cruz noted that the autopsy was conducted on all fatalities but relatives of three of the Hong Kong residents—begged not to open their bodies for some personal considerations.“The families of the three fatalities for some personal or religious reasons refused the bodies of their beloved to be opened up for autopsy but they were examined only post mortem meaning physical examination,” he said.Cruz, on the other hand, said hostage take Mendoza suffered eight gunshot wounds—one to the head, two to the neck, two gunshot wounds on the hands and two on his feet.“From all indication, Mendoza’s eight gunshot wounds came from the sniper,” Cruz noted. “The Crime Laboratory will determine who shot the victims through paraffin and ballistics examinations. The firearms of about 200 policemen involved in the hostage taking incidents were submitted for ballistics.”

So either way, any hostage situation should be ended immediately when at all possible, but especially so when a hostage taker is shown to be unstable in their thinking, such as was obviously the case of a police person who actually thought they were going to get their job back by doing something so foolish as an even worse crime than he lost his job for. Added. Ankle shots and other exposed areas such as the hands are often taken when a person is using a human shield in order to get them and the human shield to move and thus expose the head for the head shot. Yeah, I am hearing chismosa that many of the dead were shot from the PNP swatters. If this IS the case, this only makes not taking him out when they had the chance IMHO, a crime against the Philippines and the PNP. Does anybody here know how to profile? I realize the FBI is an ocean away, but they are always available by phone, 24/7.... unlike the pez-o-dent of the Philippines, who I hear is having a little critique thrown his way these days as the do nothing prez. As he should. Also heard the mayor of manila ordered the arrest of the brother...with such brilliant minds as leaders, you almost wonder if the only way these guys get elected is because of money.Oh yeah.... That includes charges, charges any western world nation would use if the shooters were the IDIOTS that were storming the bus, and actually killed the passengers. Lawyers and the media...crap, it would be a nightmare for any mayor or politician. Heads would roll, and arrsts would be made...I am positive. But it's okay...we're just whiners. Take a look at some of the gun fire...looks as if the shots were coming into the bus in rapid fire.
UZI Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Reports say that other than the hostage taker, the ONLY shots fired were from the police snipers.BTW, Jackie Chan is quoted as saying to his HK fans: “If they killed the guy sooner, they will say why not negotiate first? If they negotiate first, they ask why not kill the guy sooner? So sad,” he said. But what does he know of course.

stef Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 they really do not think Manila police OIC accused of kidnapping Hong Kong drug suspects By Cecille Suerte Felipe (The Philippine Star) Updated August 27, 2010 12:00 AM Comments (18) MANILA, Philippines - A former police undercover agent described as an “insult” to the Hong Kong people the appointment of Senior Superintendent Francisco Villaroman as acting director of the Manila Police District (MPD), replacing Chief Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay who went on leave following the mishandling of the hostage rescue operation in Rizal Park last Monday.Mary Ong, alias Rosebud, expressed opposition to the appointment of Villaroman, whom she said has several pending cases filed at the Sandiganbayan, including the alleged kidnapping of two Hong Kong residents who were suspected drug dealers.“Insult adding to injury to the Hong Kong people. Two Hong Kong families have filed kidnapping charges against Ping Lacson, Acop, and Villaroman, et al,” said Ong, referring to fugitive Sen. Panfilo Lacson, former Chief Superintendent Reynaldo Acop and Villaroman. “It’s so blatant, if not careless.”Ong told The STAR that another case was pending in the Sandiganbayan second division, which denied their motion for demurer of evidence, thus Villaroman will have to stand trial.Villaroman said he and the other accused remain innocent until proven guilty.“Let justice take its course, it (cases) has been there for eight years and the allegations made have not been proven yet, so we are presumed innocent as the Constitution dictates,” Villaroman said.“Our demurer was not denied but was postponed for sometime. I was designated officer-in-charge of the MPD to focus on current issues.”The STAR sought the comment of Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo and Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Jesus Verzosa but they did not respond.full story here http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=606523&publicationSubCategoryId=
