My guess is that they were afraid for anyone to know so that no one in the Philippines were to find out but that is still no excuse when there are other ways to bring money in, such as write a check and wait 3 weeks for it to clear, or wire it to a family members account.For not informing US authorities that she was carrying undeclared cash to the Philippines, a Filipino-American woman was sentenced three years probation for dollar smuggling.
