love2winalot Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Hi. I had a friend ask me this. If you are moving to the Philippines, and going to stay at a hotel or something, and then buy/rent a house later, or anything similar, where do you ship your boxes to?Is there a place you can use as the reciever, and then just have them delieverd to your address, once you actually have a address?
Mr Lee Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Hi. I had a friend ask me this. I believe Paul Cebu Expat Services does it in Cebu and maybe he knows of others in whatever area your friend wishes to move to.
ancienrocka Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 (edited) Thanks Lee, yes we are still providing this service. The reason we started doing it was because of a suggestion by Lee that people might want somewhere to send boxes while they looked a round for a permanent residence.Paul Edited January 16, 2011 by ancienrocka
Inspector Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I have room to store here in Davao....any boxes of Gold, Coffee, small pinays or pornographic material is accepted, in no particular order. My fee is free...and I am serious, if you need a place to keep your LEGAL stuff, and they are boxes that are not TOO heavy and you will be picking them up in a reasonable amount of time, I can get them up into my loft until you arrive. Call me bubba Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Does anyone have any Updates or info ?or how they sent their boxes/packages before they left?what was the experience they had?
Tatoosh Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 There is a storage outfit in the metro Manila area. You could theoretically lease a storage unit from them, ship to them and get your stuff when you have settled down. I have never inspected the place physically and I cannot vouch for them, since I've never done business with them, just exchanged a couple of emails. Lordblacknail Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 (edited) We sent all 60 of our boxes to Paul Whiteway but we arrived before the boxes, and we had our house by the time they did arrive. We called LBC and arranged for the boxes to all be delivered to our house. No problems. Mel-Low Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 A company shipping household goods to the Philippines will usually have a Filipino company they work with. So, tell the shipper that you want the Filipino company to hold your household goods for x number of months. You usually have to pay for those months in advance. If you need more time, the Filipino company will send a messenger to you to pick up payment for the additional months. I did this with the Filipino moving company, Asian Tiger (which has other names). No problem. Charge was per cubic meter and not by weight.
