Wilfredo Tamayo said the 38-foot (11-meter) catamaran named The Pineapple left Jan. 6 for Cebu Island in the central Philippines.Tamayo said the U.S. Coast Guard requested a search and rescue operation although it is not clear if the sailboat had reached Philippine waters.Coast guard spokesman Cmdr. It was piss poor planning, like diving without first checking if there is water in the pool. I've visited Guam numerous times and the weather around there is pretty unpredictable with the worst hurricane winds one can ever experience within any given day! Wilfredo Tamayo says a search ship guided by a spotter plane located and boarded the 38-foot (11-meter) catamaran The Pineapple after it was spotted off the southern island of Dinagat. But I wonder why they were unable to contact anyone during their emergency. Even with enginetrouble, the charge on the battery should have been enough to maintain power for their radios to call out a mayday.
