ekimswish Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Hey guys... I went from the Philippines to Macau and back for about 7,000pesos in order to secure a Taiwan visitor visa, the other week. It was an awesome two days as I've never seen anything like it, and it's the smallest big city I've ever been to. You can walk around it, no problem, although the bus works too ;) Unfortunately I had no money to gamble, though that might be tough anyways, as its mostly Chinese language gambling, but the foreigners seemed concentrated up at the poker room in the Grand Lisboa. One cool thing is that I met my wife's "barcada" (group friend) from her hometown who manages the Casino bar at the Four Seasons / Venetian, and got fed free wines, whiskey, and cocktails before my evening flight out, and had a good chat with a Filipino from her town with a good sense of business and the world. Normally we have to educate them abou how the world works, but this guy was schooling me! Anyways... had a great time. Also stayed two nights at a hostel for roughly $22 (Auguster's Lodge) owned by a married Bangledashi/Filipina couple. The guy was really funny, and the wife was friendly too. Thank you for the report Mike, it sounds like a place that my wife and I would like to make a side trip to, so I will now add it to the list of places we wish to visit from the Philippines  and the hostel sounds like my kind of place, cheap.
