Lordblacknail Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 (edited) Ladypinknail and I will be arriving in Cebu on 3/17/2011. I would like to get a social poker group started by 4/1/11. What do I consider social poker? A regularly scheduled get together where a group of people can play dealers choice poker. I would like to see it become a rotating affair, with the host being different each time. The host usually provides snacks, and you bring what you drink, but all that can be worked out. I don't do this for the money, I just like to play cards, so the stakes will be worked out by the players. The Bombay Poker Club, which goes back to 1975, usually has a Hold'em tournament where winner takes all once in a blue moon, and a getaway which goes for a couple of days for regular dealer's choice, every three months or so. All the details can be worked out by the participants. If you are at all interested, let me know. We hope to settle somewhere between Talisay and Carcar, but of course until we get feet on the ground, we don't have a clue.I also enjoy MahJong and would like to get a group going for that. I really hope to hear from you guys. Edited March 4, 2011 by Mr. Lee Edit out questionable parts

Mr Lee Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I have read in the news of groups of foreigners being busted in the Philippines for private poker games that were being played for money, so I feel it would be best if any terms of the games be discussed in person (at the get together might be a good place) and not on an open forum, be it if you are playing for candy or coconuts. Members should pm the OP if they want to discuss those terms but all other interest in said games can be discussed in this section except for the actual exact location. Sorry but I feel this is for the best for all members concerned and I am doing this in your best interests.
Inspector Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Yeah, what Lee said. Check out the shipping lists on the balikbayan box can't ship items, and you will see playing cards as a banned item. :th_thholysheep:That said, people do still get together and play, just be careful in private games and ask at social events. They had one in Minglanilla...local pinoy non middle class Hold em game, but the amount they bet was so low I felt I was at a unfair advantage regarding bankroll. And it was hot. Small suited connector all in hot. :lol:Best legal place to play is a distance from where you are settling down in Cebu....Metro Card Club. They have them all over the Philippines, even one in Davao City where I reside. Do a google and give em a call...they have small tournys and cash games. :cheersty:BTW...all the major casinos have poker rooms...except davao for whatever reason. Lordblacknail Posted March 5, 2011 Author Posted March 5, 2011 I appreciate the input guys, but a card room is not what I am looking for. I am trying to put together a social poker game, where we can enjoy ourselves playing poker for small stakes. Really going to miss that if it doesn't happen. If I was still up there, me and the better half (who is very good) would love to be involved in your fun chip game. :lmao:
