Sorry I'm on my phone so I can't, (or don't know how) to attach the news link.Anyone affected by the tsunami created by the earthquake in Japan? Some are headed toward the Philippines. I doubt you'll see any affects in Cebu, but our members on Luzon may see some waves. Hope everyone and their families are safe.

Luckily all is well here in Cebu, and my wife and I were out at a bd party and then I met Tom for a drink along with Frank, so no flooding here, The only problem that this has caused me here, is that my phone has been ringing off the hook with people wondering if we are going to get hit with some of that, and my email box was full when we got home. I feel sorry for those poor people in Japan and our condolences go out to the families of those who lost their lives, and we pray the country will recover soon.

Although everyone knows about the Japan situation now, I am starting to think this is going to hurt the Philippines. I read that Japan was this country’s biggest investor in 2009 and 2010 and I also read that Japanese investors, in very large numbers, are repatriating their investment money to help in the rebuilding of their own country. Can you imagine Cebu and area without the big Japanese companies like Mitsumi?

Dave I believe you are correct and I also feel that Japans problem will become the worlds problem for the reason you stated, and also for them looking to reclaim their other investments, so they will probably wish to cash in some of their US bonds and that will make the cash flow there worse, and possibly snowball. I guess one sunny side of this mess, if there is a sunny side, is that they will probably be using less fuel for the short term, so fuel prices may come down somewhat, or not go up as fast as they have been climbing. I am not sure how the Philippines will fair with the loss of any groups income, and IMO this disaster in Japan will hit a lot of pockets worldwide, so I believe many of those pockets will no longer be spending in the Philippines, and that has to impact things here. As I write this, there was yet another explosion at another nuclear plant there. I think this is number 3. Below are some photos of before and after, truly amazing.Japan before and after Drag your mouse across them to see the before and after.
