Dave Hounddriver Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 so is it not better to clear or convict him in court I don't believe so. Our society has watched too many court dramas. A man convicted in court is a guilty man. A man cleared is a guilty man who got away with it. ie Michael Jackson or OJ Simpson.Better to not be taken to court. It will blow over in time. Mr Lee Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Now maybe we can read about what evidence they actually have, or don't have against this couple. Court issues warrants for Santos, GriffithsThe arrest warrant is out but where is homicide suspect Bella Ruby Santos? That’s the question Task Force Ellah Joy is asking after a judge issued the arrest warrant for Santos and her British partner Ian Charles Griffiths yesterday.Link to the complete story
MikeB Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 so is it not better to clear or convict him in court I don't believe so. Our society has watched too many court dramas. A man convicted in court is a guilty man. A man cleared is a guilty man who got away with it. ie Michael Jackson or OJ Simpson. "Cleared" is a good word for it and add Casey Anthony to the list. It's easy to criticize the Filipine system, and rightfully so, but look at those travesties. If you have lots of money, or the potential to make it like Anthony, you can get away with almost anything. It's a dog and pony show, I gave up after OJ. Shame he's temporarily indisposed and unable to pursue his noble quest to find the real killer. Guess we'll never know.

tom_shor Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 His girlfriend sure doesn't act guilty or she's one crazy Filipina. She challenged a police officer to a fist fight.. Its in the press. The press is pretty much eating her alive.Where is the DNA evidence? I've not seen anything that indicated the blood stains matched. Did I miss that?No evidence but they know in their heart he is guilty. This is the Philippines you don't need evidence against a foreigner. You just need the best witnesses money can buy. Pay no attention to the fact they already positively identified someone else. That one didn't count. After all these are their last suspects so if they don't nail these guys they have to admit they screwed up.
tom_shor Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Interesting. Why would anyone have a catalogue full of young childrens pictures. Thanks for the update. DougWas it a catalog or a photo album? Who were the kids in question? I am sure I have well over 200 pictures of my children and grand children when they were young. Philippine Newspapers are not a good source of accurate information. If they are guilty I have no sympathy for them. I just hope this is not another round of railroad the foreigner.
tom_shor Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Well it seems there is some actual evidence as quoted below from THIS news story. So while there were no photos of Ellah Joy, that would not be a surprise, because if you killed someone, be it by accident or intentionally, then surely you would dispose of any evidence ASAP that could link you to the crime. The big question now is, were the photos of those children with or without clothing on? Time will tell as more comes out in the news, but it does seem strange that they would have so many photos of young children. Are they guilty, again time will tell as more about the evidence is released. When Paredes allowed the viewing of the USB last June 9, no photo of Ellah Joy was found in the device.Among the things found was a folder that contains about a hundred 2x2 photos of young girls and boys who appear to be between six and 15 years old. What evidence? I don’t know about this Lee I’m unconvinced they have a case. That newspaper has been highly biased against the two suspects from the time they were arrested. I wish there were justice for that poor innocent little girl and the police could truly find the killer or killers.I have hundreds of pictures of young children too. Am I now a suspect? :23_11_62[1]: Why are the pictures only 2x2 in size? Sounds like passport size? Or proofs for a photographer like she said. Though those are usually bigger. Mr Lee Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 I suspect that many of us have photos our our young children relatives, but who among us has hundreds of single photos of each child individually? I know that I or my wife have taken an occasional photo of a single female who is above 18 and who sought a foreign husband, but always fully clothed and in a normal setting. I am not sure why anyone other than a school photographer would take single photos of children in such large numbers, so possibly Santos friend that she claims who owns those is a school photographer? Or could the friend she speaks of be Griffiths? As for them being loaded on their computer from a friend who worked on it, the photos were on a thumb drive, so unless their friend left the thumb drive by accident, then I do not know why Ms. Santos would have it in her home. I believe there is a lot of information being held back, and I have to wonder when they said somewhere within one of the new stories that the photos are believed to contain nude photos, what the heck they are talking about, because if they are just photos of children dressed, then there is nothing wrong with someone having hundreds of those unless they are cataloging children for future internet sales. I believe there must be some probable cause within the evidence to issue the warrants of arrest, yet we are talking about the Philippines where many things that happen do not conform to the western trend of thought. :23_11_62[1]:
Mr Lee Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 And yet another update. FAMILY PLEADS FOR BELLA TO COME HOME, Seems she is not going to face the charges, so apparently her word that she would turn herself in if charged, meant nothing. Many twists and turns here, and it would be nice if they could just get it over with and release what evidence they supposedly hold against her and Ian Griffiths, so she and he can either be found innocent or made to answer for the crime if guilty. “Please surrender.”This was the plea of relatives and friends of Bella Ruby Santos, the former bar girl from Naga City who often bragged that there was no chance she’d be found guilty of murder. Santos’ allies are worried because she may make good her threat to end her life out of despair.
