http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?Artic...bCategoryId=107 US Embassy personnel visiting Cebu next week January 8, 2009 Cebu - This is an opportunity for those who want to know more on how to apply for passport or visa for the United States, registering with the Embassy and other information about the foreign country.The U.S. Embassy representatives from the American Citizen Services, Non-Immigrant Visa, and Immigrant Visa Units of the Consular Section Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration will be in Cebu City on January 15 to 16 at the Consulra Agency in Waterfront Hotel, Lahug to answer some queries.They will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on January 15 and 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on January 16.In a press statement sent to The FREEMAN, the US Embassy announced that American Citizen Services personnel will answer questions as well as accept applications for passports and Consular Reports of Birth abroad, will provide information on registering with the Embassy and will perform notaries and affidavits of legal capacity to marry in the Philippines.For Non-Immigrant Visa personnel will answer questions regarding visa application process. However they cannot entertain case/application specific inquiries.Immigrant Visa personnel will answer questions and will provide instructions for applying for U.S. Immigrant status as well as field questions related to existing immigrant visa applications.The Department of Homeland Security personnel will answer questions, and at the same time accept DHS applications/petitions, will provide instructions for filing such applications/petitions, will distribute DHS forms and guidelines regarding DHS applications/petitions and will provide information related to Immigration matters.On the other hand, the Social Security Administration will answer questions and will discuss basic entitlement requirements for the different Social Security benefits, develop claims for benefits, process Social Security number applications, resolve Post-Entitlement cases, e.g., Change of Address, Report of Death, Medicare Enrollment, Direct Deposit enrollment, Non-receipt of benefits, etc.The US Embassy further announced that the fee for passport application fee is $100 for adult (16 years old and above) and $85 for minor (under 16 years old). Passport renewal fee for minor is $85 and $75 for adult. There is no fee for additional passport pages while the fee for Consular Report of birth abroad is $65.For notaries, an affidavit is charged at $30 and another $20 for an extra copy of other document related to the same transaction, acknowledgment of signature and affidavit of legal capacity to marry is charged at $30, respectively.While there are no fees for voting registration card or absentee ballot, savings bonds and report of death of an American citizen and selective service registration. Fees will only be accepted in U.S. dollars and one must have exact amount as no change will be available.Personal Non-Immigrant Visa matters cannot be handled at the Outreach.All inquiries regarding Non-Immigrant Visas must be made at the U.S. Embassy in Manila or call: 1-909-101-7878.Additional information can be obtained prior to the visit by contacting American Citizen Services Section of the American Embassy in Manila at (02) 301-2000 ext. 2246.
