Mr Lee Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 This is something I cannot get used to. It always makes me feel weird when one of our family members, usually an elder one, will hug me hello or goodbye and sniff my neck. Anyone have that done to them? And if so, what were your thoughts when it happened? It shook me up the first time it happened to me because it was an elderly uncle who did it when we were leaving to go back to the city after being in the provinces for a while, so I was praying that I did not smell :SugarwareZ-034: but worst of all, I felt like he was trying to get my scent for a future kill if I did not treat my soon to be wife properly. Perhaps all that garlic was sweating out of your body from that garlic rice you ate, lol. The only time I have ever had anyone sniff my neck is when I'm minding my own business in a bar and the girls get a whiff of my Cologne.
BobNChe Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Filipinos have an accute semses of smell. They can tell how old rice is by the smell. As you might have noticed, the wearing of clean pressed clothes here is important. Part of the "clean" process for many Filipinos is fabric softner or scented detergents. They enjoy that smell and are also checking m to make sure you are presentable as your appearance and smell is a direct reflection of them in the Phils.
