Now Now boys, we don't know the truth and probably never will. One thing is for sure unless they were deaf, dumb and blind they knew that what they were doing, there would be at least some sections of any society that would not be happy with them, (unless you come from the Netherlands).Whether you agree that there were girls under age or not, whether you agree the girls were there of their own free will or not, whether you agree that one mans filth is another mans pleasure or not, whether you agree that it was right or wrong. One this is for sure, you know the saying, "No Smoke without Fire"Know what you are getting into and if the sh&t hits the fan, MAN UP and take what is coming to you! No one forced them into making the choices they made, and maybe they should have done their homework first instead of looking for a "quick buck"Just my thoughts guysPapa Carl

Most likely the "It won't happen to us" mentality.

The only sad part is that there are probably Filipinos in that prison that killed some body and did not get life in prison. I for one do not feel bad for these two because for them to be involved in this type of activity they obvious have no respect for women. When you decide to get involved in something in the Philippines you need to ask yourself what is the worst thing that can happen and then decide. I have two sons that would love for me to bring them to the Philippines for a visit and I am afraid of what might happen to them if they get into any kind of trouble here. I have told them that it is different here than in the west and they say they understand but they don,t. When you have grown up your whole life thinking this is the way life is and all of a sudden things are totally different it takes a long time to adjust. Are logic is different to their logic and their rules different to ours.

Both men are somewhat guilty based on what they said to the news, that is if that is what they actually said, :( so I have no sympathy for them if they thought they could get away with it, just because others here do. They seem to have forgotten that in the Philippines, it is who you know and who you pay, that keeps you safe, so they must have left someone important out off their payroll. As for bringing your sons here, if you ever do, then bring them to a prison to visit, that should hopefully cure them of ever even attempting to do anything illegal, yet I have to agree with you, and it would probably be best to keep any young minds away from this place, since even some older people with much more years of street smarts seem to end up in jail. While sex workers are all over the place here, that does not mean a foreigner can do the same thing and get away with it, and especially not now while the Philippines is trying to show the US that they are hard on that type of thing, in order to try to keep the inflow of cash grants coming in.

Your last sentence is what is really pissing me off about US policy. Today on the news they were talking about cuts to social programs, school staff being laid off, community centers closing doors and loads of other things. Yet we still funnel millions to fight so called "Human Trafficking"? Much of the so called "Grants" could be put to better use.

I am in total agreement, the US needs to keep the money at home first and foremost. There is no longer extra money for these so called grants, and there never should have been, except for over-taxation.

Yet another similar or duplicate story, and what the judge said is very telling to me. My guess is that the judges attitude will become permeated in all of those who are in power, so therefore become the rule, rather than the exception. The weird part is that the Philippines says they do not wish to be the puppets of the US, so isn't that exactly what they are doing when the US dangles money in front of their faces.

But the judge who delivered the verdict against the Swedes, Jeoffre Acebido, said anyone who sexually exploited impoverished Philippine women should be punished."Disrespect for Filipino women and violations of our laws deserve the strongest condemnations from this court," Acebido wrote in his ruling.
