Art2ro Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) Art, amuses me that you get tired of negative comments....(I view it as constructive criticism)......when you constantly quote "different strokes for different folks!"Make you mind up! What part or where are you confused or amused about? I didn't say anything funny! Your constructive critisism, is a negative comment and was directed at me personally! It's you that has to make up your mind about people with different strokes before you go on bashing me! I didn't bash you roy2cebu! Did I? And Lee, I didn't use the word bash in my post, someone else did! I said negative comments and roy2cebu called it constructive criticism! So, don't all you Kanos gang up on me all at once because of my solution of love it or leave it, and leave the status quo! I'm out numbered here, but in public, I blend in easy enough, because I'm a Filipino and will voice out my POVs about the Philippines contrary to other Kano's POVs with negative comments about the Philippines, my race, culture and or heritage! Mr Lee Posted May 20, 2011 Author Posted May 20, 2011 Art you are my friend, and as I said I respect your POV and you surely know a lot more than I do about the Philippines and its people, so never think I am picking on you, only that I have a different POV verses your POV. I would just love to see this country prosper and less poverty here because it actually hurts me inside to see how so many have to live, and I feel so helpless to change it. So I guess I am just voicing my frustrations at the system. Sorry if what I wrote offended you in any way.
Art2ro Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) Not offended Lee, it was just your POV. If anyone ever viewed my profile, I made a comment, "There are 36 million Filipinos living in poverty, can the new President improve their lives? Not in my lifetime!" So, if everyone has concerns about the Philippines, don't worry about it, foreigners can do nothing about it, but spend their money while on vacation and all those poor people will still be poor when we are all long gone dead and 6 ft under! I know where all of you are coming from with your POVs and you all also know where I'm coming from with my own POVs coming from a Filipino/American! So, you all can continue to criticize and or bash the Philippines and their people on this or on any other forums all you like, I'm beyond all that, because I am a Fil/Am and I live here and it's my roots! I'm a little touchy at times on some topics than most and give my own POVs, take it or leave it! Edited May 20, 2011 by Art2ro
Bill Bernard Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Well said Art2ro, As a Canadian I am very proud, but all countries have areas of that we should be ashamed of, like the native and eskimo reserves of North America, the crime infested subways, the government corruption, etc. I have spent a lot of time in many countries, I grew up poorer here than my Pinoy wife did in Mindanao. Every country has its pros and cons, its unique ways of doing things, etc... Negativity breeds negativity, At this point in our lives, enjoy the positives, the rewards of many years hard work. The best we can do is set an example for the youth, have a positive outlook everyday, and focus on the good things in our lives. I pledge , in every country I visit, to represent my country and my race well.

As everyone knows that the Filipino people are good impersonators, imitators or followers of the western lifestyle and some are motivated to attain the same status financially and socially from the examples that foreigners have set in the past and present day! Just look at some of the Filipinos you see today in their nice homes and luxury vehicles and most of them aren't even corrupted politicians, but your average ambitious Filipinos wanting to get ahead in life! So, some of the Filipino population are doing well through earnest living, but there will be those that will never have those same opportunities just because they were born into poverty with no immediate way out of their dilemma! Only the Philippine government can help the other 36 millions of people living in poverty! Edited May 20, 2011 by Art2ro

I pledge , in every country I visit, to represent my country and my race well. Thanks Bill, at least you understand where I'm coming from! I wasn't sure whether to post in this thread or not, and discussed it with Ellie before deciding to say:I don't want to be labelled as a Foreigner living in the Philippines and only having negative things to say. I love it here, and that is why I decided to stay! I respect most Filipinos I meet, (not all). However I would like to see things improve here for Filipinos, (as well as myself I guess). This will not happen with the current gov. and the same families holding all the wealth for generations and generations. This is suppose to be a democracy, however the word means nothing if you don't understand the meaning! As in a previous thread I wrote, when Filipinos control and improve, their Educations system, Medical System, Transportation System etc. etc. and this is done by Filipinos, for Filipinos it will once again be able to live up to being "The Pearl Of the Orient" as it was once expected to be.The poverty and corruption is hard to live with, (especially if you come from a country that does not suffer to the same degree as does the Philippines), and my heart goes out to the "ordinary Filipino" who can not afford private health, education, or a car or a decent home to live in. That is why the only way of change, is to change the people in the Gov who control all these things, and that will only come when Filipinos are educated about what they have and do not have compared to other peoples of other countries in the same geographical area as they are. This change can not come from out side of the Philippines, nor from outsiders who live in the Philippines. When they know what they can have, and how to get it..... watch out world! Filipinos are a people to be respected.Papa Carl
