The quote below seems to indicate that the couple took pity on the young girl, yet I guess time will tell, but either way it seems that even a local can end up in trouble :541: when in the presence of a non related minor. Also, obviously kids may lie to try to stay out of trouble. Missing girls surface in Danao City

The child told police later that a woman, later identifed as Maricel Sarsahi, saw her walking on the road and invited her to come home with her in barangay Tuburan.The woman said she took pity on seeing the child in torn clothes and slippers and only wanted to give her some decent clothes.She and her live-in partner were detained by Danao police for further investigation.
Also they are very touchy ever since the Ellah Joy Pique case.
News teams sent repoters, including a helicopter to the site, on the chance this case was similar to the unsolved Feb. 8 kidnapping-murder of 6-year-old Ellah Joy Pique in Naga City, south Cebu.

Now why would a kid lie about something to stay out of trouble? They are always truthful and innocent! Reminds me of a Funniest Home Video clip. A very young boy, 4 or 5 perhaps, had chocolate all over his face. Mother asked have you been eating chocolate? Kids answer with a very innocent look on his face.... Nooo.

Well it looks like the media has done its job. They have made it that when any one thinks of the word kidnapping they have to add the word foreigner to it.
