Sharing Your Home, Anyone Tried It?

First of all I am not making light of the situation and this is a serious question, and I do feel for you guys who are struggling. I wonder if any of you guys who are having problems has considered asking the richer in the family for help? Second possibly a solution to a problem might be charging rent to those who wish to move in, so make a rule up front that anyone who wishes to come and stay can do so by paying at the first or end of the week, and no pay, then off they go, payment is due in advance, no exceptions. The reason I suggest that is because it is less expensive for more people to live under one roof in most cases, shared work, shared expenses, but that might not work as well in the Philippines if you do not have cable TV, a home phone, internet connection, aircon used in the house and other things that cost the same for one to be home as ten, but water bills will go up, as will food bills, so all that would have to be figured into the pot, yet I am sure it is less expensive to buy a whole sack of rice verses smaller portions, so possibly feeding a group might also be less expensive. Any thoughts on the matter?

My wife says “if you allow family members to move in and live in your home it could be nearly impossible to remove them regardless of whatever agreements were made”.

Thanks for your input and suggestions guys, I appreciate it, as I am sure many others do as well. One thing is for sure, when I find work, we will be making some changes. :buttkick:Papa Carl

Your wife is a very intelligent and understanding woman, she knows all about the extended Filipino family culture thing! She'll keep them all in line so you won't have to worry too much about anything, for now that is, because adjustments do follow with time in order to weed out the bad apples in the bunch that don't seem to contribute to the over all family group! There's nothing wrong in keeping those you love around you, because they bring joy to a close net family! I wish you well!
