BobNChe Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 A huge deal in Cebu like a human car wash, leave your valuables at home.Last year I was going to attend the event but because it was raining and we were staying at Matcan we decided to watch it on TV instead. To me it became boring as it was the same thing over and over.I guess it would be different to be there in the atmosphere of the event. You may have been watching the dancing contest in the sports complex. It's the main competition and you have to pay a minimum of P5-600 to attend. It's very monotonous because most of the groups do almost the same type of dance, they just try and use different props and costumes to enhance the appeal. johnrxx99 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 God, you blokes are borrrrrrrring.Lock your house up, jesus, why??? Don't you when you go out anytime. As an expat you have the privilage of actually joining in. Anywhere in the parade, just ask to go over/under the cordon rope and your in. Camera ready you can dance the day away with the procession, take as many pics as you want and say hello to the dancers. The only hassle is the official photographers who hog the Queens but who cares, there usually Korean anyway and soon move. It's the best day of the year and watching it on TV is OK I suppose if you are infirm but otherwise you should be ashamed of yourself. It is joked that the steps are "one step forward, two steps back", and that is why the parade takes so long to finish!
Forum Support Old55 Posted January 20, 2009 Forum Support Posted January 20, 2009 Today in DC there will be a crowd of up to two million. Security will be very high, much more so than that in Cebu's Sinulog over the weekend. Not a fair comparison but still it will be interesting to see how it shakes out. The DC stands for District of Colombia. The US capitol is not part of any state.
