Dave Hounddriver Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 So these girls are rescued from a 'foreigner' bar where the patrons pay well, and sent back to work where? Likely in a filipino bar where they will earn less? I would not want to be rescued either.
ekimswish Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I know guys, I hate the hypocricy of this as much as the next guy. But what happened to, "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time," the usual consensus around crime stories on this site? It almost sounds as though guys are mad that all those pretty girls will now be unavailable, even though most of us are happily married. Again, I hate the hypocricy of the government, but have no problem with the girls or foreigners being busted for something illegal. What makes me angrier, however, is not that these girls will be out of work, but that the government isn't focused on educating them in high school, when they have have the chance. Until the government makes education a priority, achieves 12 grades like the rest of the world, and a million other improvements, people will keep being underemployed because foreigners won't invest here. Lack of education, leads to bar girls, which leads to bar raids. If the government wanted to end this - which they don't - they could start with schools. Garpo Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I can honestly say that I have never visited any of these type bars and have no plans to. I would not know if the girls are pretty or not!My point is that it is not that the uneducated girls should not be arrested. My point is that it is the educated government officials that turn their heads and close their eyes if the right amount of money is put into their slimy hands are the ones that need to be stopped and put into jail for life.. This is where the big change has to be made in the Philippines for it to ever evolve from being a third world and uneducated country.A criminal is a criminal in my mind and should do the time. But the worst criminals are the ones that should go to jail first, not the uneducated bar girl, or the guy that owns the bar where these girls want to be because it might be the only way they can make enough money to pay for their children to get an education. Some of them in fact might very well be using the money they make to pay for their own education. Yes, few and far between but it can and does happen. Lack of education, leads to bar girls, which leads to bar raids. If the government wanted to end this - which they don't - they could start with schools. Because its really only a crime to provide sex on premises, that's why the term is "early work release". If a bar owner is silly enough to provide short time rooms or what ever then its his own fault. The point being that it is not a crime to pay for a girl to leave her job early where she is employed to encourage customers to buy drinks, what she does once she has left is nothing to do with the bar unless once again a silly bar owner will include "services" and early release in the barfine or EWR.To me its got to do with the discrimination against the bar owners doing the legal thing and the help fill the pockets of the corrupt or government hand outs from other countries. One day the Philippines will wake up, all the workers have gone overseas, no more tourism,no more foreigner investment because of the corruption involved in setting up business and its all because they cant see the forest for the trees. Art2ro Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 (edited) Angeles City was my stomping grounds when I was stationed at Clark Air Base for 4 years in the late 60s and it was a wild and swinging town back in those days! I enjoyed every minute of my time there! 3 days before Martial Law went into effect, I was out of there to my next duty assignment stateside! It’s the bar or club owners fault! There’s a wrong way and the right way to run a successful bar or club! If the bar or clubs are providing room and board for their female employees, their lodging should be just that and not used for entertaining customers for extra curricular activities, they can do that in a hotel via the “bar fine” scheme, where the owner gets his cut and it’s up to the customer what he plans to do with the bar or club female employee and what fees he and the female can arrange for the extra curricular activities in the privacy of their hotel room ! It's ill advised to visit those topless or all nude joints, massage parlors and cat houses, because they are frequently raided by the local police "goon squad"! Simple as that! And as for the bar or club floor shows and bands, skimpy bikinis will do just fine, no need to go all total nude, let’s just leave enough to the imagination!
