Mr Lee Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 The slow wheels of justice seem to finally be moving now that there is a new ombudsman, so I think it would be good for the country to find out if the Arroyos are guilty or be proven innocent. What do you think about all this, good for the country or bad? The Ombudsman will finally start investigating the involvement of then President now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the P728 million fertilizer fund mess. Former Ombudsman Ma. Merceditas N. Gutierrez, a close ally of the Arroyos, was accused of "sitting on the case." She was supposed to face an impeachment trial at the Senate until her resignation in April. Her inaction in the fertilizer fund scam is one of the six cases that was the basis of her impeachment. “It is an elementary principle that a Secretary is an alter ego of the President who has direct control…There is thus a need to conduct investigation as to the complicity or liability of the former President with respect to the allocation, release and expenditure of the fertilizer funds,” a press release from the Office of the Ombudsman read. Agriculture secretaries were alleged to have been ordered to divert funds supposedly for fertilizers to the campaign of Ms. Arroyo in 2004 Story HERE
Mr Lee Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 More info on this and now it seems a few others are being readied against former president Arroyo. If there is real evidence, and this is not just a witch hunt that will end with an acquittal after wasting a lot of time and money, then I would say it might heal the country somewhat, but if she is found guilty to just be given a pardon after it all, then I say it is a big waste of time and money. President Aquino dished out new boasts, — atop a pile of empty ones — yesterday of four new graft charges against former President Gloria Arroyo and her officials that would include the recent revelations on the anomalous use of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) funds that implicated seven Catholic bishops. In an interview after the signing of the peace pact between the government and the Cordillera Bo-dong administration -Cordillera Peoples Liberation Army, Aquino said the recent revelations of corruption by the new management of the PCSO may lead to Arroyo. He said that least four cases are now being simultaneously developed against Arroyo and other officials of her administration for allegedly committing abuses involving the use of government PCSO and other government funds.“There are so many (cases) simultaneously being developed… The executive is actually building up several cases,” Aquino told reporters at a press briefing in Malacañang.Link to the rest of the story And yet another case pops up.Lacson: Arroyos ‘forcibly’ sold helicopters to PNP

Forum Support Old55 Posted July 5, 2011 Forum Support Posted July 5, 2011 Highly unlikely GMA will ever be held accountable because most of those who hold high power are guilty of corruption and will prevent her prosecution.
