Mr Lee Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Here we go again, another foreigner making us all look bad. No wonder the locals end up having such bad opinions of us all. I know, I am sure people will say he is not guilty and the girls wanted the sex, but they were still underage, even if they did it willingly and for the money and even if their parents were in on it.POLICE last night arrested a 78-year-old Australian for allegedly keeping four children as “sex slaves” in his house in barangay Inayagan, Naga City, in south Cebu.Naga police served a search warrant against Angelo Farina in his rented bungalow about 10 p.m. Law enforcers rescued four girls aged 14 to 15 who were in a state of shock. The house is a few blocks from the residence of Bella Ruby Santos, who is wanted with her British boyfriend Ian Charles Griffiths on charges of kidnapping and homicide for the Feb. 8 disappearance of a 6-year-old girl. The search warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Macaundas Hadjirasul of Branch 8. Police acted on a request for assistance from the Children's Legal Bureau (CLB) who received reports about the foreigner’s conduct. In an interview, CLB lawyer Noemi Truya-Abarientos said the Australian, who traveled in and out of the country, would allegedly have sexual relations with the girls at his pleasure. She said the abuse started last year but the CLB learned about the situation just last April. She told Cebu Daily News the victims were still in a state of shock after the raid and would be placed in the care of social workers. The children are residents of barangay Inayagan. Their parents were not around. Police recovered photos that showed the foreigner with the children. They confiscated his passport and still unidentified drugs.Truya said other minors had filed a complaint against the Australian with the prosecutors' office last year for the same offenses but their parents were persuaded by the foreigner to later execute an affidavit of desistance to withdraw the case. The four girls rescued last night were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Carcar City.Farina was brought last night to the Naga City jail. The story HERE Angelo Farina, yep a true blue Aussie name Again I see that not all the info will be correct,at 78 I think not to much would be going on. Could be again a case of the bad guy being set up when all he ever did was provide education, food and shelter.Of course I'm only speculating as everyone else does and the reporters.Goodness gracious, unidentified drugs, hmm at 78 most are on some sort of drug. Mr Lee Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Maybe he is 78 and cannot get it up, maybe he is just a do gooder and was only trying to help those poor girls, maybe he is totally innocent but just happen to be in a house which is near the house that was alleged to be used in the killing of that unfortunate young girl, but no matter what the situation is, I believe that he is guilty of having minors in his presence as per REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7610 June 17, 1992 AN ACT PROVIDING FOR STRONGER DETERRENCE AND SPECIAL PROTECTION AGAINST CHILD ABUSE, EXPLOITATION AND DISCRIMINATION, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES ARTICLE VI Other Acts of Abuse http://www.chanroble...cactno7610.html (b) Any person who shall keep or have in his company a minor, twelve (12) years or under or who in ten (10) years or more his junior in any public or private place, hotel, motel, beer joint, discotheque, cabaret, pension house, sauna or massage parlor, beach and/or other tourist resort or similar places shall suffer the penalty of prision mayor in its maximum period and a fine of not less than Fifty thousand pesos (P50,000): Provided, That this provision shall not apply to any person who is related within the fourth degree of consanguinity or affinity or any bond recognized by law, local custom and tradition or acts in the performance of a social, moral or legal duty. MikeB Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Some great unbiased journalism. What does the house being a few blocks from Santos' have to with anything and what are the "unidentified drugs", heart medicine or cocaine? 78, hmm. Insinuations and innuendos, whatever sells. There you go,social and moral could be the real story here, like Roy giving out gifts or Bruce doing his bit.So LEE,what he did has not gone to court yet but you have voted guilty. The locals are no better but just get away with it more except for a few cases we read recently so IMO it makes the Filipinos look just as bad as its really common all over the world except the parents in the Philippines turn a blind eye when a few peso comes there way as it says in the story,of course reading between the lines. Inspector Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 While the Philippines sure does attract many lowlifes, Lee...you certainly at this point can't believe everything to read here? Can you? If there in NOTHING else I have learned in my 4 years here, and that is never read the newspapers here for "facts"...they are along the lines of the tabloids. Mr Lee Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Now he says he only wanted to help the children and send them to school, so I ask this, why could he not send them to school while they lived with their parents? Why did he have to have four underage girls living with him? Yes I know, he needed them for maids and to cook for him and there were no women over 18 that he could find in all of the Philippines to fill those positions. Oh, and I did not convict him, he managed to do that all by himself by having four underage girls alone with him in his home. The Philippines has laws and we need to not only be aware of them, but also abide by them to the best of our ability, so why did he not also have one or both of the parents living with him, or an overage relative? The answer is out there blowing in the wind and I guess some of us can hear it and some cannot.Australian national accused of child molestationABS-CBN News reported that Farina said he had only wanted to send the children to school and that the girls' parents did not object to his help.He will be charged with trafficking in persons and child abuse. softail Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 A good rule of thumb now days, I don’t care whether you are in the RP, the US, Australia or where ever, never ever be alone with kids. When I was a kid we had old retired guys all over the neighborhood that just loved to have us stop by and they would show us how to fix our bikes or take us fishing. This was great for them as well as us. I would just love to carry on the tradition and pass on the experience and memories to the kids in my neighborhood but I am scared to death of kids, all it takes is an accusation and the rest of my life is ruined, just not worth the chance.I am not saying that this is the case with the Australian, I have no idea whether he is being falsely accused or not but if he hadn’t been alone with them in the first place no accusation could be made and he wouldn’t be facing the possibility of an RP prison.Doug
Call me bubba Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 i like to give EQUAL ACCESS to Rommel Alfonso , he too is accused of a crime against a girl or having a "sex slave"but he is not a foreigner but a citizen here in the RP.. I bet his "crime" will net only small amount of newspaper, tv time compared to the 78 yo Australian MANILA, Philippines – A 15-year-old girl was turned into a sex-slave by her neighbor in Malolos, Bulacan. “Diane” (not her real name), now 5 months pregnant, said she was abducted by her 40-year-old neighbor Rommel Alfonso last February 13, 2011. Alfonso, a former overseas Filipino worker, has a family with two children almost the age of Diane. He and his family arrived at Diane’s neighborhood only in December 2009. Diane’s family, meanwhile, has been living in the neighborhood for 13 years. The victim said she was brought to a house owned by the suspect’s sister-in-law in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija and became a sex-slave. Diane recalled that for more than a month, she was repeatedly abused by Alfonso. She said Alfonso, who was always drunk, would have sex with her almost everyday. She added that she was also physically abused. She said she had a hard time escaping because Alfonso tied her up. It was only during the last week of March that she was freed by the suspect, who remains at large. Several months later, Diane’s parents discovered that she was pregnant. She said she did not tell her parents about what happened because Alfonso supposedly threatened her. According to Diane, however, this was not the first time she was raped by Alfonso. The first incident, she alleged, was inside a computer shop on February 9, 2011. Prior to this, Diane said Alfonso had been bothering her through text, sending her “I love you” messages. A case has been filed against the suspect, but a Malolos fiscal ruled that no rape took place. Diane was given new hope when her case was taken by Atty. Jun Ambrosio, the same lawyer who sent former Zamboanga del Norte Rep. Romeo Jalosjos to jail for raping a teenage girl in 1996. Ambrosio took the case after an appeal made by ABS-CBN anchor Ted Failon through Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Dinky Soliman. Failon also said the Bulacan Prosecutors' Office promised to review Diane’s case.http://philnews.com/headlines/2011/headline_news_0720a.htm
